St. Scholastica
Catechetical Center

The St. Scholastica Catechetical Center represents the completion of Phase II of Fauntleroy & Latham, Inc.’s master plan for St. Benedict’s Parish. Commissioned in 1987, the master plan was developed to satisfy the immediate and future developmental needs of the rapidly growing church Parish.

The 7,100 square foot religious education building blends harmoniously with the existing church built as Phase I of the architect’s master plan. The facility contains the Parish administration offices, a library, meeting and multipurpose rooms and a kitchen to serve special parish functions and religious retreats. The focal point of the covered walkway connecting the New Catechetical Center with the existing church is a cruciform kiosk, which serves not only as a pedestrian drop-off, but also as a unifying element.

Designed to accommodate an addition of several meeting rooms as the Parish grows, the St. Scholastica Catechetical Center addresses the Parish’s concern for future orderly site development with a unified campus design that is aesthetically pleasing.

Completion Date : 1996 Construction Cost:$638,000
