Rehabilitation Living Center - Northshore

Avoiding an institutional look was of paramount importance to the owner. Fauntleroy & Latham designed the Rehabilitation Living Center - Northshore located in Covington, Louisiana to be anything but institutional. The facility consists of three antebellum-style buildings surrounding a well-appointed courtyard. The two "houses" contain a total of fourteen private and semi-private bedrooms which open onto large open air galleries.

The larger house includes a commercial kitchen with vaulted ceiling and staff conference room. To add to the residential character, both houses provide TV lounges, sitting areas, and personal computers for the residents. In addition to the office areas, the administration/recreation building includes a physical therapy room, game room and woodworking shop.

All three buildings are non-combustible, 1-hour protected construction and contain supervised fire alarm and automatic sprinkler systems. These safety features are cleverly concealed amongst the custom interior finishes. Coffered ceilings, crown moldings, cypress millwork and wood floors all contribute to an atmosphere which make "lifestyle" rehabilitation far from institutional.

Construction Cost: $2,368,415.00
