Office Automation The ability to prepare concise documents, to meet strict deadlines and offer the client the possibility of changes late in the design process requires a system that is accurate as well as flexible. Fauntleroy & Latham has incorporated CAD (Computer Aided Design) and a computerized specification format to help satisfy these needs. The CAD equipment operates around Pentium computers up to 3.2 GHz. Work stations utilize 19 licensed seats of AutoCAD 2007/Architectural Desktop 2007 software. We have Autodesk subscription services on all CAD software allowing us to always be current with the latest AutoCAD software releases (AutoCAD Architecture 2008 soon to be installed). All machines run at 1.0 Gb - 3.0 Gb ram for ultimate performance while utilizing the Windows XP Professional operating system. At the Administrative level, equipment operates around Pentium computers at 800 MHz-2.0 GHz computers, including 7 laptops while utilizing the Windows XP Professional operating system as well as Windows Vista . A total of 30 computers support our hardware needs. In-house plotting equipment includes 1 "A-E" size ink jet plotter, 2 laser printers and 4 ink jet printers. These devices produce hard copies at various scales. All systems are networked with a Pentium 4 - 2.8 GHz, 1.0 Gb ram server for greater flexibility and interchangeability for access to drawing files. Daily activity is "backed-up" every night internally on our tape drive as well as off-site. Digital imagery and color printing are also available with 2 digital cameras, a flatbed scanner and a color copier. Visualization has been a key component in conveying information. Our multimedia projector takes our presentations to a new level with the latest in projection technology. The projector is also used for in-house CAD training sessions to keep our production staff up-to-date with the on-going advances in CAD software. As more clients have been requesting 3D color visualization drawings, we have integrated this into our services with Google Sketchup Pro 6.0, Accurender 4.0 & Photoshop 7.0. We have DSL fast-access to the "Internet" through which we can exchange documents and drawings utilizing E-mail and the World Wide Web. Also, our Web site "fl-inc.com" can be accessed from across the world to those who are interested in our services. Our civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering consultants all provide AutoCAD documents, and have internet/E-Mail accessibility. In addition to freely exchanging computer data with consultants, we can provide the client with permanent computerized file copies (diskette/CD/DVD/tape) of all drawings produced in our office. |
